Flying halfway around the world for dental work sounds daunting. But thousands of Americans do it every year, and most say the hardest part was deciding to go — not the trip itself. Here's what your first dental trip to Korea actually looks like, day by day.

Before You Go

Weeks before your trip, you'll have already sent your dental records to Kainos Dental and received a treatment plan with pricing. You know exactly what procedures you're getting, how many appointments you need, and what it will cost. No surprises.

Pack your passport, dental records (bring physical copies as backup), any medications you take, comfortable clothes, and a phone charger. Korea uses Type C/F outlets — bring an adapter or buy one at the airport.

Day 1: Arrival

You land at Incheon International Airport. Immigration is straightforward for US citizens — no visa needed for stays under 90 days. The AREX express train gets you to Seoul Station in 43 minutes, or you can take the airport bus directly to Gangnam (90 minutes, about $15).

Check into your hotel near Seolleung Station. Rest, eat something, adjust to the time zone (Korea is 13–16 hours ahead of US time zones).

Day 2: First Appointment

Walk to Kainos Dental — it's at Seolleung Station Exit 3, 13th floor of KR Tower. The first visit includes a Cone Beam CT scan (3D imaging of your entire jaw), clinical examination by both Dr. Lee and Dr. Lee, and a confirmed treatment plan with scheduling.

If your procedure is straightforward (wisdom teeth, single implant), treatment may begin the same day. Complex cases may be scheduled for the following day.

Days 3–5: Treatment

Depending on your procedure, you'll have 1–3 treatment appointments. Between appointments, you're free to explore Seoul. Gangnam has incredible restaurants, cafes, shopping, and nightlife. The COEX Mall is one subway stop away. Myeongdong, Hongdae, and the palaces are all within 30 minutes by subway.

After surgery, stick to soft foods. Korean juk (rice porridge) shops are everywhere and perfect for recovery meals.

Post-Treatment: Going Home

Kainos Dental provides a complete documentation package: procedure notes, imaging, implant specifications, and aftercare instructions — all in English for your US dentist. They schedule video follow-ups at 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months.

For implant patients, you'll return to Seoul in 3–6 months for the crown fitting (a quick 2–3 day trip).
